History of Chyavanaprasam

Sage Bhrigu and Puloma were happily wedded and Puloma was about to conceive. But then, she was attacked by a demon during the pregnancy, resulting in the premature birth of her son Chyawana. Chyawana wanted to follow the spiritual path but suffered from early ageing and lot of other health problems. On his prayer, the Divine twin Doctors Aswini Kumaras came to his help and administered a herbal paste to him. That herbal paste healed him, made him young again and helped him get rid of all his problems. That paste was named Chyawanaprash after Sage Chyawana.
