Art Silk Sarees

The first successful art silk was manufactured from cellulose fibre in 1890's and named Viscose. The name changed to Rayon in 1924. Later in 1931, two chemists hired by Henry Ford were able to produce artificial silk from Soyabean fibres called Azlon. However, it was in late 1930s that a more superior functional alternative in the form of Nylon, the first synthetic fibre & a type of art silk was developed in US as a replacement for Japanese silk during World War II. Nylon soon replaced silk in many applications as it became a major industrial fibre in no time.

About Art Silk Sarees Online

Art silk fabric is very much like silk fabric and is made using synthetic fibers like rayon. Art silk saree is lighter and more airy, therefore very comfortable to wear during the summer months. It keeps you cool and fresh in the hot and humid climate. Art silk sarees are also much cheaper than the pure silk sarees. So many people now prefer to buy them. They are also soft like cotton and rich like silk.

Although rayon is the most commonly used art silk material, it is also made with mercerized cotton, polyester or a blend of all these materials. Rayon and silk blend is also used for making art silk. Rayon is now in great demand in the market. It is made from regenerated cellulose. Art silk was one of the earliest artificial fibers and it was originally known as viscose during the end of 19th century. Later on, in 1924, it came to be known as rayon. In 1930, artificial silk called Azlon was introduced from soybeans fiber.

Indian art silk sarees are made with new variety of rayon, which make them durable and attractive. These can be machine washed and are easy to maintain. Art silk saree designs are attractive and include modern as well as traditional designs. Gold floral prints all over the saree with block printed border and designer pallu is the latest trend in art silk sares. You can wear this to college, office, casual and traditional occasions.

Designer and fancy art silk sarees with zari embroidery all over the saree and printed patch work embroidered with mirrors and sequins are very beautiful and make you look gorgeous. You can wear them for grand occasions like weddings, festivals etc.

Art silk saree combos are also available for those who want to buy more than one such saree. You can also gift them to your friends and relatives.
